DDS definitely has a hiring and retention problem

Address pay gap; fund and prevent staff shortages; invest in training and technology

To take a State job means less pay that erodes more each year

Low pay hinders State’s recruitment of environmental engineers

When I tell anyone what I make, it kind of becomes embarrassing

It’s hard to find high-quality candidates when they see the pay

At CDS, we have always struggled to fill vacant positions

Position vacancies, low pay, high workloads at Maine DOE must be addressed

Our highly skilled Maine DOE staff are leaving. We need to take a serious look at how we can turn this around.
